Bulgarian vice Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov will attend the European Mountain Running Championships in Sapareva Banya on 4 July 2010. On Sunday morning the Minister, who is a former athlete and a middle distance runner himself ,will give the starting shot of one of the races in the city centre by the Geyser.

For the first time in the history of European Mountain Running Championships a live TV production of the entire competition will be produced including onscreen timing TV graphics and statistics.

The TV Production will be realised by IMS Ltd.

Ivan Tsakov, Director of production, the Director of photography and executive technical staff inspected the course in order to build up a detailed technological chart of the transmission.

Technical Delegate Christoph Seiler (SUI) appointed by European Athletics expressed a high opinion of the preparation works in Sapareva Banya for the European Mountain Running Championships (4 July 2010). Despite the rainy weather in early October the European Athletics representative measured the course to be used for the competition and declared it suits the requirements for a European event. Seiler met the Mayor of Sapareva Banya Mr. Sasho Ivanov, dipl. eng., the Regional Governor Mr. Lyubomir Anchev and other LOC representatives. He inspected the venue and the hotels for the teams, officials, media etc. This was the first site visit for the Championships. In the spring of 2010 there will be another site visit of both Technical Delegate Christoph Seiler and Council Delegate Münir Yaras (TUR). Seiler considered the course of the EMRC 2010 perfectly designed for a competition to be remembered. He felt confident that it would be one of the best European Mountain Running events since it will be organized by Bulgarian Athletic Federation and not by some local structures as it often happens in other countries.

A record number of 600 athletes, coaches, officials, guests and media representatives are expected for the European Mountain Running Championships to be held on 4 July 2010 in Sapareva Banya. This became clear on a regular meeting of the LOC in Panichiste resort where participants will be accommodated. Dobromir Karamarinov, President of Bulgarian Athletic Federation and Sasho Ivanov, Mayor of Sapareva Banya Municipality discussed general organization matters like the lodgment of the teams, logistics, accreditation system, volunteer’s recruitment. The Opening Ceremony will take place in the city centre of Sapareva Banya near the biggest Geyser on the Balkans. A video screen will be mounted there to display live the championships.
